Orthodontia has come a long way from simply being unsightly metal bands attached to brackets; now a variety of options are available from different materials used to form the brackets to the color of the bands. The latest materials are used for braces, making the orthodontic treatment process easier and quicker than it used to be. The average treatment process for braces is between one to three years. Retention is part of the orthodontic process as well, meaning that retainers, whether permanent or removable are used. Here are the different options we offer:

What To Expect
A consultation with the dentist, Dr. Poyak where x-rays, photos, and moulds of teeth will be taken to understand the case and design the orthodontic treatment process.
The next step is having the braces attached. The brackets are bonded to teeth and a loose wire arch is fitted to the brackets with small bands holding it in place on the brackets.
Around every eight weeks the braces will need to be adjusted, or tightened, gradually by the dentist straightening teeth and correcting jaw alignment problems. Thicker wires will help the process, and adjustments can cause some discomfort.
At the last appointment the braces are removed much quicker, by clipping the brackets off with special pliers and removing the remaining bonding, leaving straight beautiful teeth.
Next a retainer will be fitted, which will ensure that teeth stay in place. Retainers can be permanent or removable, metal or plastic, and can be worn anywhere from a few months to a year after braces
