Dentures and partials are one option for replacement, but they are a poor substitute for your own teeth. Sometimes dentures and partials don't fit comfortably, and they slip out of place, as well.

Dr. Poyak often recommends dental implants to replace missing teeth or anchor bridgework, partials, or dentures. An implant consists of a small titanium screw placed into the jaw (the "root" part) and a crown (thee "tooth" part). Because implants have a prosthetic root and crown, they function just like natural teeth. Dental-implant-supported dentures attach directly to the implant posts, which create an anchor for the prosthetic.
